Your Opportunity

We have an immediate opportunity for an Intermediate Environmental Data Management & GIS Specialist to join our dynamic Environmental Services team in Winnipeg, MB.

This is a 1-year contract with full benefits that is eligible for extension or conversion to permanent employment.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • As part of our Data Management & GIS Team, you will:

  • Work on a wide variety of environmental projects at a time, on sites located locally, across North America, and Internationally

  • Manage and organize laboratory, field, spatial and geological data to ensure quality and consistency

  • Maintain and query data using MS Access and MS SQL Server

  • Produce data reports, figures and maps using in-house software and/or specialized queries

  • Assist in developing standards and procedures for data management process improvements

  • Actively communicate and coordinate with project managers, laboratories, and/or other team members to acquire data packages of varying formats to be imported to a centralized database management system

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Experience with EarthSoft EQuIS and/or MS Access and/or SQL Server, with a strong understanding of database relationships

  • Experience using and understanding Federal/Provincial/Municipal/State regulatory guidelines

  • Knowledge and experience utilizing ArcGIS suite of applications (i.e., Spatial Analyst, 3D Analyst, X-Tools, Arc Hydro), building .mxd templates, data analysis and metrics development, and figure/map production

  • Keen on working with data and have had exposure to environmental analytical data

  • Strong problem-solving skills

  • Ability to communicate clearly with peers, project managers and clients

  • Capable of working both independently and in a team environment

  • Ability to adapt to a changing environment and handle multiple priorities, with ability to self-manage priorities, deadlines and budgets

  • Dedication to meet project deadlines in a timely manner

  • Attention to detail is essential

Education and Experience

B.A. or B.S. in Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, Chemistry, Geography or related field, or a certificate/diploma in Database Management, GIS, Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, Geography or related field.

Minimum of 5 years' data management and GIS experience in the environmental or analytical chemistry sector.

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time.
