Your Opportunity
We are looking for a Junior Architectural Technologist or Architectural Intern (MAA). Working closely with the Project Lead or Project Architect you will be assisting on a wide range of projects with varying levels of complexity and scale and broad integrated design teams working through all project phases from pre-design through post construction services.
Your Key Responsibilities
Conduct basic interpretations of sketches, drawings, codes, building program and other similar material for application and/or implementation into design, detailing, and documentation.
Assist with investigating/verifying existing conditions including documentation, measurement, and condition, etc.
Participate in client meetings and stakeholder engagement workshops including user group meetings and prepare meeting minutes.
Assist with coordinating project deliverables including schedule, meetings, etc.
Assist with, and/or lead, BIM [Revit] model set up, production, and utilization of BIM technologies to design, detail, and develop projects.
Assist with the evaluation and selection of building systems and materials.
Assist with developing Schematic Design Documents including drawings and outline specifications.
Assist with, and/or lead, building code review, application of, to design, detailing, and documentation.
Assist with coordinating, and/or leading the coordination of, building systems.
Assist with implementing sustainable design principles
Assist with developing Design Development Documents including drawings and specifications coordination.
Assist with developing, and/or leading the development of, Contract Documents including drawings schedules and coordinating specifications
Assist with reviewing, and/or leading the review of contractor RFI’s and preparing Addenda.
Assist with, and/or lead the development and submission of Supplemental Instructions, Contemplated Change Notices, Change Orders, and Change Directives
Assist with and/or conduct Field Observations and site review meetings, preparing Field Observation Reports and documenting construction progress and deficiencies.
Assist with preparing, and/or leading the preparation of Record Drawings.
Assist with ensuring the design intent/vision is maintained throughout from conception through system and material selection, visualization, implementation, documentation, coordination, and construction.
Qualifications

Excellent verbal, written, and graphic communication skills.

Ability to engage and work within a creative and critical integrated design practice.
Interest in holistic design, systems thinking, construction, materials, sustainability, and technical design detailing.
Ability to participate and contribute to a project team setting.
General knowledge of accessibility codes, applicable building codes, and life-safety codes for a wide variety of project typologies.
General knowledge of building construction systems, constructability, materials, and industry associated standards.
Good understanding of the relationship between drawings and specifications.
Good understanding of Microsoft Office, Revit, AutoCAD,
General understanding of Abobe Creative Suite, SketchUP, and Newforma would be an asset.
Able to hand sketch and communicate concepts and ideas to others effectively is an asset.
Education and Experience
Diploma in Building or Architectural Technology or equivalent in related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience, or
Master of Architecture graduate, enrolled in Intern Program of the Manitoba Association of Architects
ABTAM Certification, an asset.
Minimum 1 year of experience in construction / design industry. More experience is considered an asset and those with more experience are recommended to apply.
