Your Opportunity

We are looking for the right individual to lead and help grow our existing office in Wichita, KS. This is a unique opportunity to perform as a Senior Project Manager, Technical Expert, and Office Manager. Seeking a candidate with consulting experience in contaminant management, remediation, and site redevelopment, although other backgrounds within Environmental Services will be considered. Stantec’s office in Wichita is currently a small office focused solely on contaminant management projects. However, we are looking to expand and diversify the office into other areas of Environmental Services as well as expand into additional business lines supported by Stantec. We desire a motivated individual to lead the team and be part of this exciting growth.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all aspects of the team are run efficiently and within agreed upon financial and operational goals.

  • Increase profit by implementing and monitoring processes and tools to improve business operation and financial efficiency.

  • Direct the team to ensure that client's expectations are clearly understood and executed.

  • Work with leadership and direct reports to formulate a strategic plan that adheres to and advances business center's strategic, fiscal and operational goals.

  • Work to grow an understanding of the local market and economic, political, physical, and intangible impacts that shape it.

  • Take ownership of the team by being a focal point for communication with clients and providing resources and leadership to staff.

  • Identify and cultivate external relationships key to developing new business opportunities.

  • Demonstrate ability to win a significant amount of new business.

  • Demonstrate a comprehensive service line mentality, jointly marketing with other company services, cross-selling, and promoting a full-service company.

  • Recruit and attract top talent and premier clients to the organization.

  • Coach, develop and retain high-performance and high-potential team members. Ensure effective career development and training is provided to all team personnel.

  • Participate in company training initiative to educate senior staff and managers in a broad perspective of company services, industry knowledge, leadership and management.

  • Successfully work for resolution of highly complex problems that escalate from team.

  • Work to foster and maintain the company culture through interaction with staff, clients and the community.

  • Development and maintenance of industry relationships and visibility with current and prospective clients, sub consultants, partners and potential recruits.

  • Identification of major/strategic/transformational projects associated with top clients/prospects coming on line in the next one to three-year horizon.

  • Understand procurement, market trends and business outlook within sectors.

  • Identify cross-selling opportunities.

  • Meet and build relationships with targeted clients with the objective of introducing Stantec and increasing our exposure in the local market

  • Lead and/or assist with proposal development.

  • Manage multiple projects including scope, budget and schedule.

  • Day-to-day project oversight and communication with the client and project team.

  • Understand and assist in the negotiation of both client and subcontracts project contract terms and conditions.

  • Provide technical leadership for site remediation and redevelopment projects, including supervising the work of other staff, setting the priorities for their scope of work, their budgets, and their schedules for completing the work, and advising on technical problems and evaluating others' work for technical accuracy and completeness.

  • Engage in leadership in professional organizations that align with expertise; writes technical papers and delivers technical presentations for conference and symposia events.

  • Recognize when technical problems and business risks are developing and initiates corrective actions.

  • Understand and implement industry standards as well as client and regulatory agencies standards and requirements.

  • Perform other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • The ideal candidate will possess strong operational/financial management, project management, leadership, team building, people management and communication skills.

  • Strong business development skills, including significant experience building and maintaining productive relationships with a client base.

  • Promotes policies and procedures for HSSE, including client-specific training (if applicable)

  • Previous leadership experience is essential

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geoscience, Engineering or related field; Master's degree highly desirable

  • Licensed Professional Geologist or Professional Engineer required; PMP desirable

  • Requires thorough understanding of Contaminant Management, Remediation, and Site Redevelopment

  • Minimum 12 years related experience, or an equivalent combination of education (e.g., advanced degree) and experience

Majority of time spent in office environment with prolonged sitting and computer work, or combination of office and field.

Ability to lift and move items and equipment up to 50 lbs.
