Stantec is seeking Junior Geotechnical Engineers to join our team in our Waterloo, ON office.

Your Duties

In this role your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Conduct quality control/quality assurance compaction testing on soils or asphalt placed at construction sites.

  • Conduct testing on concrete delivered to construction sites.

  • Conduct field work including drilling and test pit supervision.

  • Working on a variety of small to large projects spanning from residential, commercial and industrial developments.

  • Geotechnical engineering evaluation and assessment of various developments and providing recommendations to address applicable issues, such as: foundation design, slope stability, soil improvements and others.

  • Assisting with the management of geotechnical and material testing projects.

  • Preparation of proposals and technical reports.

  • Carry out geotechnical laboratory testing to applicable standards and procedure as necessary.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

As the successful candidate, you will possess the following qualifications:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor Degree in Civil /Geotechnical Engineering from a recognized university.

  • Eligible for registration as an Engineer in Training or Professional Engineer with PEO.

  • Valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle.

  • Ability to handle work of a physical nature in a field environment.

  • Previous experience working on construction sites and/or around heavy machinery is an asset.

  • A self-starter who is innovative and enjoy working in a team environment.

  • Good written and oral communication skills.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software.

  • Willingness to work occasionally for extended periods away from home base and to travel throughout Canada and occasionally out of Country
