Your Opportunity

As a Structural Engineer in Training you will work with close guidance and supervision on entry level tasks for smaller projects, and as a team member of larger water and wastewater infrastructure projects under the guidance of a Senior Structural Engineer.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Perform preliminary and detailed structural analysis and design for Water and Wastewater Treatment Plants, Reservoirs, other Hydraulic Containment Facilities, Industrial and Administrative Buildings

  • Design, analyze and specify primarily reinforced concrete, masonry and structural steel systems

  • Utilize BIM/CAD software to develop construction drawings and 3D models

  • Assist in the development of a design through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats

  • Assist in the preparation and revisions to construction documents in various project phases including plans, sections, and details

  • Assist in the review of contractor’s shop drawings and submittals, investigate and develop engineered solutions to requests for information, prepare site observation reports, and perform other contract administration tasks

  • Coordinate with other disciplines (mechanical, electrical, civil, architectural, etc.)

  • Assist technical staff in field activities including structural observations, monitoring and other fieldwork.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Ability to participate and collaborate in a project team setting and engage in creative and critical thought

  • Understanding of structural engineering concepts and ability to effectively communicate ideas to others

  • Ability to interpret construction drawings, sketches and other similar materials

  • Experience with the use of finite element software (RISA 3D, STAAD, RAM, or SAP 2000)

  • Experience producing 3D models and 2D structural engineering drawings using Bentley Structural and MicroStation, or Revit and AutoCAD.

  • Demonstrated leadership experience in professional engineering organizations or equivalent at the student or professional level

  • Experience in the structural design of environmental engineering concrete structures in accordance with the requirements of ACI 350 preferred

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Civil, Structural or Architectural Engineering required.

Master's degree in Structural Engineering preferred.

E.I.T. certification required

Minimum of 0-2 years of experience. Past co-op/Internship experience preferred.

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
