We are looking for a Leader to fully develop Stantec’s Waste Management Sector in North America and to support our goal to be a Top 5 player in the Waste Management space. Stantec has been providing waste management and solid waste services to clients for more than 60 years. Our team of practitioner’s span across Canada, the US, the United Kingdon and New Zealand. This senior level position will be an integral part of our Water and Environmental Services leadership team and will oversee our North American growth strategy, while working collaboratively to support business operations and project delivery. Your Key Responsibilities

Strategy and Business Development

  • Set the vision and lead the development and execution of a client-focused strategic growth plan for our Waste Management business.

  • Understand market drivers and changes and develop innovative solutions to address these changes to increase Stantec’s revenue and market share in this sector.

  • Identify growth initiatives that position Stantec to win market share in new or emerging markets that are consistent with the vision and strategic plan.

  • Drive the development of business development sector plans and national/regional accounts plans, as appropriate.

  • Develop and manage the marketing and business development plan for the sector, including implementation of strategies and tactics for growing the sector.

  • Develop and implement “win” strategies, including client contact, proposal preparation, and preparation of and participation in client interviews.

  • Provide leadership in winning and contracting Master Service Agreements (MSAs), overseeing preparation of pre-qualifications packages, and leading teams of technical and marketing professionals in responding to requests for proposals (RFPs, as well as sole sourced opportunities) for the waste management sector.

  • Prioritize waste management strategic pursuits and collaborate through the Go / No-Go process with the involved Business Lines, Business Centers, and Operations personnel, working in conjunction with Water and Environmental Services Business Line leadership.

  • Create and maintain relationships across Stantec’s practices and geographies to promote cross-selling of services.

  • Assist in providing input to the annual business plan and budget for the business line.

  • Work directly with other leaders to help meet net revenue, gross margin, and operating income targets in the groups.

Leadership

  • Build, grow and develop a team of high performers through recruitment & retention of waste management subject matter experts (SME’s) and practitioner within the practice.

  • Drive Stantec’s Safer Together culture, prioritizing the health and safety of our employees.

  • Demonstrate a commitment to our code of business conduct and ethics policies.

Technical Consulting

  • Personally, pursue and lead transformational projects within the waste management sector as needed to support the execution of the growth strategy.

  • Provide exceptional technical service to our clients.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Results-oriented, with a proven track record of developing strategic plans that have generated year-over-year organic growth of greater than 10%.

  • Strategic leader and thinker, with a proven ability to innovate.

  • A positive and optimistic attitude, and highly motivated in maintaining a competitive edge in the Waste management marketplace.

  • A leader and coach who can apply their skills to complex problems.

  • Established working relationships with pertinent organizations and municipal governments engaged in waste management work.

  • Ability to create and maintain relationships across Stantec’s practices and geographies

  • Attention to detail and can manage projects and business development activities simultaneously, working under pressure to meet deadlines.

  • An entrepreneurial orientation with strong understanding of the business development challenges of a consulting services provider.

  • Able to drive on behalf of Stantec.

  • Travel: 20% travel expected

Education and Experience

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution, Masters or PhD degree in Engineering preferred.

  • Professional Licensure.

  • Minimum 20 years of experience managing pursuits and delivery for waste management projects or an equivalent combination of education (e.g., advanced degree) and experience.
