Your Opportunity

We have an opening for an Intern on our Corporate Sustainability team. This position will be a learning opportunity for an individual looking to pursue a career in corporate sustainability or corporate social responsibility.

Stantec’s sustainability model includes active management of our environmental, social, and governance impacts. Our commitment to sustainability runs throughout the operation with oversight running directly to the board of directors. As a consulting firm, we offer sustainability services for a multitude of clients in every operating unit and geography, but this position supports Stantec’s own corporate sustainability efforts.

As the Corporate Sustainability team is located in office around the world, this position will be performed via virtual collaboration from a home office (with the potential to work out of a Stantec location if there is one in the nearby vicinity). This is a paid internship that can be aligned with a summer or fall semester schedule, if necessary.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Supports

    • Production of Stantec’s annual sustainability disclosures
    • Calculation of Stantec’s carbon footprint
    • Efforts to promote the UN Sustainable Development goals
    • Actions to promote inclusion and diversity in Stantec’s business culture
  • Provides analysis and reporting assistance to sustainability team and project teams.

  • Collects, summarizes and quality checks data

  • Assists in the preparation of presentations and reports

  • General administrative duties


Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • General understanding of Corporate Sustainability concepts

  • Passion for addressing climate change and social justice action

  • Strong writing and analytical skills

  • Detail oriented and organized, with exceptional prioritization skills

  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including, but not limited to, Outlook, Word, Excel, Sharepoint, and web-based interfaces

  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills

  • Comfort working in a virtual environment

  • Ability to work effectively within a group, as well as independently

Education and Experience

In progress towards earning a university degree in Sustainability, Business with a focus on Sustainability, Environmental Science, Communications with a focus on Sustainability or related area.
