Stantec is currently looking to add a Civil Engineer in the Boise, Idaho office to support our Water practice. The ideal candidate will have a strong background and/or interest in creative engineering design in subject areas including water and wastewater treatment facilities, utility systems, pump stations and water conveyance Facilities.
As part of our team, you will work to plan, design, and develop a variety of water infrastructure projects, supporting some of the region’s largest and most interesting water, wastewater, and conveyance projects. You will perform a variety of tasks that may include conducting analyses and preparing project documents and reports, preparing plans and specifications, engaging with clients on technical issues, and coordinating with project teams and project managers.
Your Key Responsibilities
Use knowledge of general concepts of civil engineering elements through investigation and analysis, to support engineering projects such as wastewater / water treatment plants, pipelines, gravity sewers, pumping stations, site improvements, etc.
Perform calculations to analyze and design civil system components using company standard software and proprietary manufacturer software.
Preparing civil designs, drawings, specifications, presentations, and reports, and gather information to support design decisions.
Interpret and verify compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards and practices.
Work with other engineering disciplines and professionals in the coordination of the project under the direction of a senior engineer.
Provide support services during construction that can include submittal reviews, responses to requests for information and contract document clarifications, and coordination of payment applications and change orders.
Perform field work related to construction related activities as required.
Perform other duties as assigned by senior engineering staff and Project Managers.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Strong organizational skills, multitasking ability, and excellent computer skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, report preparation, and the ability to work with engineering or other technical staff at all levels.
Experience in design of water-related or other large infrastructure projects.
Ability to prepare complete, concise, and organized engineering calculations, analyses, and design documents.
Based out of the Boise, Idaho office, but requires willingness to work in a virtual team across offices and occasional project travel throughout Western US.
Strong willingness to be a part of a large global engineering company, and to work with teams in other offices around the world.
Knowledge of relevant design codes and standards.
Education and Experience
Minimum of a B.S. in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field with preference given to advanced degrees.
5 to 10 yrs of experience working on civil engineering projects preferred.
Existing professional registration (P.E.) or ability to obtain within 6 months of starting work.
Knowledge of Civil3D software with preference given to experienced users.
