Your Opportunity

We are looking for a responsible Project Manager to administer and organize Tenant Interior projects, from simple activities to more complex plans. Stantec has over 425 offices worldwide. The Corporate Real Estate Workplace Team is responsible for all renovations and tenant fit outs for offices within North America. This position could possibly be responsible for projects in Canada and/or the United States.

As the project manager, your job is to plan, budget, oversee and document all aspects of the specific project you are working on. You will work closely with leadership with the project team to ensure that the scope and direction of each project is on schedule and on budget.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Support the site selection process during the lease transaction by participating in site tours, understanding the requirements and requests of the client user, and the limitations imposed by leadership (such as project budget and headcount).

  • Prepare, schedule, coordinate and monitor assigned Tenant Improvement projects

  • Provide input and guidance in development of project scope and budgets.

  • Negotiate contracts with external vendors to reach profitable agreements.

  • Facilitate and participate in collaborative problem solving and decision making at both the strategic and operational levels.

  • Analyze complex problems and synthesize, integrate and conceptualize alternative solutions; while managing projects to meet multiple, and potentially conflicting, timelines.

  • Define trade-offs and identify optimum solutions. Develop and analyze the effects of different design and construction alternatives on cost, schedule and scope.

  • Collaborate with Corporate Real Estate managers, user groups, architects, engineers etc. to determine the specifications of the project and be able to communicate requirements to each of the team members, including design and MEP.

  • Manage Consultant and Construction Manager procurement processes including conducting post-proposal interviews, analyzing responses and preparing recommendations for award

  • Work professionally and collaboratively with diverse sets of constituents within institutional settings, as well as demonstrating consideration and sensitivity for the values of each stakeholder.

  • Be seen as a trusted partner and consultant by the geographic leadership. Represent leadership and client; interpret their requests, needs and limitations, while respecting the role of the Corporate Real Estate Team as the owner of the project.

  • Determine needed resources (manpower, equipment and materials) from start to finish of the project with attention to budgetary and schedule limitation, and allocate responsibilities to project team members

  • Resolve disputes between the contractor consultant from sub trades as required

  • Be intimately familiar with the Workplace@Stantec Playbook Guidelines and be able to appropriately communicate that information to stakeholders and project team.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Ability to read, interpret, and work from advanced sketches, blueprints, specifications, and construction drawings.

  • Apply knowledge of contract security and insurance strategies within defined risk profiles.

  • Demonstrate effective leadership skills and aptitude; while developing a collaborative, cross-functional team to execute the project in a coordinated manner.

  • Demonstrate strong communications skills; ensuring that all team members, leadership, clients and other key stakeholders have the information they require in a timely manner.

  • Travel is required. Must have a valid passport.

  • An ability to prepare and interpret flowcharts, schedules and step-by-step action plans

  • Solid organizational skills, including multitasking and time-management

  • Strong client-facing and teamwork skills

  • Familiarity with risk management and quality assurance control

  • Project Management Professional certification is preferred

Education and Experience

  • 5 years’ work experience as a Project Manager or similar role, from conception to delivery

  • Related degree
