Your Opportunity

In this position as a Civil Engineering or Drafting Technician / Technologist, you will have the opportunity to work as part of a team of engineers and technologists on multiple projects for a range of public and private sector clients. This is a great opportunity for a motivated, energetic individual who wants to challenge their abilities in a dynamic work environment.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the coordination of design and specifications within the context of a multidisciplinary design team

  • Work closely with the engineering group in recommending the best use of tools to achieve project objectives, and troubleshooting/resolving project issues

  • Ensure the assurance of quality, consistency and integrity of the electronic handover of deliverables

  • Develop and prepare legal survey and construction drawings using AutoCAD, including:

  • General Arrangement plans,

  • Profiles/Cross-Sections,

  • IFC drawings,

  • Scaling sections (from other software)

  • Use of External references

  • Georeferencing

  • Ensure survey drawings conform to specifications and survey data

  • Prepare and interpret conventional and CAD survey plans, drawings, and specifications for land surveying processes

  • Performs thorough quality control of construction documents and provides design ideas and solutions

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Ability to work with others on large complex projects

  • Working knowledge of codes and design requirements specific to local geographic market

  • Ability to solve problems using sound professional judgment, creativity and innovation

  • Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite

  • Proficient in CAD software including:

  • AutoCAD; and

  • Autodesk Civil 3D

  • Surface generation (Design)

  • Plan and Profiles

  • COGO points (Instrumentation)

  • Volumes (Cut and Fill)

  • Ditch/Spillway Designs

  • Experience in relevant software programs including and/or GIS and Adobe Acrobat (would be an asset).

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

  • Able to work under and meet tight deadlines.

Education and Experience

Technical degree/diploma/certificate in drafting or in a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum of 4-5 years of experience .

The successful applicant will primarily work in an office setting.
