Our Transport Division is experiencing significant growth, presenting the opportunity for a Design Manager based in our Sydney office. This position is crucial for providing technical expertise and lead technical teams to develop and deliver the most appropriate technical solution for key rail and road infrastructure projects.
About the role:
You will plan, program and coordinate studies, investigation, design and construction management projects, as Team Leader or Project Technical Lead, to deliver the agreed outputs on budget, on time and to quality standards.
You will also develop strong working relationships with clients by delivering valuable business solutions and understanding the client’s business.
A day in the life of a Design Manager looks like:
•\tCoordinate all multi‐disciplinary activities and inputs by the technical team, including specialist inputs, to ensure an integrated technical solution.
•\tFocus on the development of our transportation and potential future rail capital project delivery expertise, locally and across the ANZ business.
•\tSupport our delivery teams during design and construction, acting in a senior leadership and management role on projects.
•\tAssist in the pursuit and proposal phase of key business development opportunities
•\tUndertake internal technical reviews and verification checks on all aspects of transportation projects.
•\tIdentify opportunities and develop high level relationships with our key transportation and future rail focused clients in line with Stantec business strategies.
•\tContribute to proposal and bid development to support business development activities, including preparing proposal and ensuring that proposals are prepared to a high standard
•\tLeading engineering projects and managing internal engineering disciplines as well as subcontractors.
•\tFacilitating design coordination and review meetings with clients and stakeholders.
•\tPrepare contract technical specifications, scope of works and technical schedules.
To be successful for this role you'll present:
•\tTertiary Qualification in relevant Engineering field along with CPEng.
•\tA favourable number of years civil/infrastructure engineering experience – design and construction.
•\tExceptional leadership abilities including managing subcontractors and multidisciplinary teams.
•\tAdvanced knowledge of transportation and rail design services and the delivery environment.
•\tRail authority experience (highly regarded).
•\tHighly developed problem solving and negotiation skills to resolve disputes that arise
•\tStrong understanding of D&C or alternative delivery projects.
•\tSolid report writing with the ability to tell a compelling story.
