Your Opportunity

Our Sudbury, ON Mining group has a need for a Backfill and Process Engineer. Reporting to the Manager of Engineering, the Engineer will be responsible for providing engineering services and departmental leadership for the design of safe, productive, and cost-effective Mine Backfill systems for all sizes of projects from early study phases through detailed engineering.

Your Key Responsibilities

Health & Safety:

  • Working in compliance with all Health and Safety rules and regulations for Stantec and its Clients.

  • Ensuring all applicable safety codes, regulations and guidelines are met by appropriate design and use of technology.

  • Review and analysis of drawings for possible safety and constructability problems prior to issue to clients.

Engineering & Design Tasks:

  • Lead multidisciplinary projects related to mine backfill from conceptual design through detailed engineering.

  • Act as a key leader in developing our mine backfill engineering program.

  • Interface with clients on-site.

  • Work with a multi-discipline engineering and design team on a day-to-day basis.

  • Coordination of and participation in the preparation of project designs and details.

  • Perform various office tasks as required to deliver a quality product on schedule.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

You must be a self-starter and be able to work in a team setting.

You must be enthusiastic about the prospect of developing a team to work with you and engaging in business development activities with prospective clients.

You must be able to interact with teams which are at times in remote offices.

Education and Experience

A degree in Engineering and a license to practice in the Province of Ontario.

A minimum of 15 years of experience, with specific focus on mine backfill and/or mineral processing.

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
