Our, Silver City, NM Transportation Group has a great opportunity for a Survey Technician/Land Surveyor. This role will support our projects throughout New Mexico by working on surveying and data collection for transportation and infrastructure projects. Your Key Responsibilities
Set and survey primary and secondary control using survey grade GPS equipment, or total stations; and their respective acceptable methods to acquire millimeter accuracy.
Use GPS RTK and or total stations survey equipment and their respective data collection systems to perform Topographical / Detail survey of transportation Corridors.
Skilled in working with work small hand tools, EG. Axes, sledgehammers etc.
Work in off road rugged terrain, Urban and Rural conditions.
Construction stakeout and volume re-measures.
Work in all kinds of weather.
Track and report to survey Lead daily survey costs and budget.
Import survey data to Civil3D to produce ground models and contours.
Produce Detail Base Plans using AutoCAD / Civil3D.
Create simple alignments and build profiles and Cross Section Sheets.
Cadastral calculations and compilation. Utility compilation.
All other related surveying services in support of engineering work.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Willingness to travel to project locations involving overnight stays of at times several days as the project dictates. Board and lodging will be reimbursed.
Proficient in Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
Ability to work independently and with a project team.
Trimble Business Center experience is preferred.
Ability to gather and organize survey research and records.
Ability to read and interpret engineering plans, maps, and documents.
Must possess a valid driver's license and good driving record.
Education and Experience
Minimum of 2 years survey experience, preference to Transportation corridor surveys and Base Plan production.
Related coursework or degree in surveying/Geomatics preferred
Experienced in GPS/GNSS and Robotic Optical Survey Instruments.
Experience with AutoCAD/Civil 3D.
