Stantec is seeking a talented, team-focused Mechanical HVAC - Plumbing Engineer or Designer to join our team in Scarborough, ME. Your technical knowledge and team-focused approach will enhance our mission to set the standard in our field for exceptional client service and professional excellence, as we grow to better serve clients and provide greater opportunities for employees.
As an integral member of the Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) team, the Mechanical Engineer/Designer produces construction documents to fulfill clients’ goals.
Your Key Responsibilities
Design HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems including system selection
Heating and cooling load calculations, equipment selection, sizing, and preparation of drawings and specifications.
Work with Discipline Lead on assigned Projects.
Perform duties with minimal supervision.
Perform construction administration services as required.
Must be team oriented
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Requisite knowledge and application of the mechanical codes and standards.
General understanding of all phases of project document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications.
Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, means and methods, materials, and industry standards.
Ability to check the work of others for accuracy and completeness and manage time to meet project budget and schedule.
Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought.
Thorough understanding of mechanical engineering concepts and ability to effectively communicate ideas to others.
Advanced oral and written communication skills.
Presentation and interview skills are preferred.
Requires understanding of Microsoft Office Suite and AutoCAD.
Education and Experience
5 years experience in HVAC, plumbing system components, plumbing fixtures, drains and equipment, and fire protection systems and equipment.
Associate's Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent from an accredited college or technical school.
Licensed Professional Engineer or EIT preferred.
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
