This is a career opportunity for a southern California Cultural Resources Manager for a leading environmental consulting firm providing NEPA/CEQA analyses, technical studies, and project permitting to a wide variety of private and federal, state, and local government clients in the western U.S. The individual will lead cultural resources projects and selected business development opportunities and provide successful and independent management of archaeological and historical resources projects, including direction of large field studies and assembly, supervision, and direction of field teams across southern California.
The primary duties of this role are:
Cultural resources program management and financial management.
Technical resource and/or principal investigator for simple and complex, high profile natural resource investigations.
Manage cultural resource services projects.
Primary technical resource for applied research including experimental design, statistical modeling, data analysis, and reporting.
Ensuring the delivery of high quality technical products.
Mentor, supervise, and technical resource for cultural resources staff.
Identify, position for, and lead development of cultural resources opportunities in southern California.
Lead preparation of proposals for cultural resources service projects.
Recommending and contracting with cultural resource sub-consultants on an as needed basis.
Identify program and project staffing needs.
Maintaining a high professional profile externally through membership in professional organizations, continually increasing client contact base.
Regularly interface with Stantec architects and engineers to facilitate inter-Practice cross selling of services.
Promote a strong health and safety culture.
Your Capabilities and Credential
Demonstrated experience with architectural history preferred.
Demonstrated and diverse experience in transportation, environmental infrastructure, oil and gas, conventional and renewable energy, and community development market sectors preferred.
Professional writing, problem solving, and communication skills.
Ability to plan, direct, and monitor all aspects of large, cultural resources project/tasks, medium-sized projects/tasks with a high degree of technical complexity, and small projects/tasks with minimal cultural resources constraints.
Ability to manage several projects simultaneously is essential.
Demonstrable marketing experience and client development and retention skills are required.
OSHA Hazwoper 40 certification required or ability to obtain prior to employment.
Valid driver's license and good driving record required.
Prior to employment, this position will require the successful completion of a pre-employment physical and drug screen.
Education and Experience
MA/MS in cultural resources or archaeology, especially California archaeology. Demonstrated expertise in the application and interpretation of California and federal laws and regulations.
Registered Professional Archaeologist.
Minimum 5 years supervisory, management, and team-oriented experience in consulting acquired over 12 to 15 years of progressively responsible cultural resources positions.
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather. Ability to lift and move items and equipment up to 50 lbs.
