Stantec is seeking qualified candidates for an Principal Hydrogeologist for our Salt Lake City, Utah office. The primary focus of this position is to support Stantec’s Mid- and Senior-Level Hydrogeologist, Geologist, Geochemists, and Engineers with field investigations, data management and analyses, and report writing. Our Salt Lake City office serves regional and international mining and industrial clients. This position will require a dynamic individual who is flexible, learns quickly, can work independently, but also an individual who enjoys learning from others and who is comfortable asking questions. This position interacts throughout the organization internally and externally with client and members of business and professional organizations around the world. Travel will be required and some projects may require working at remote sites or international locations for periods up to several weeks at a time.
Your Key Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities under the direction of a division leader for the Principal Level Hydrogeologist include:
Follow safe work practices and adhere to company and client guidelines and policies for planning and executing work in a safe manner.
Highly experienced with mine water management including water budgets, mine dewatering, tailings impoundments and groundwater containment/mitigation
Highly experienced with development of hydrogeological characterizations including large well design, groundwater aquifer characterization, water quality analysis, aquifer test design and analyses, data analyses and strong technical report writing skills.
Experience with State and Federal regulations pertaining to water management.
Experience with planning, designing and managing numerical groundwater models.
Experience with project management and developing detailed budgets, determining project scope, establishing schedules, processing appropriate paperwork, and interacting with clients.
Experience with marketing and preparing proposals and assist in preparing and providing presentations.
Understand the CERCLA and RCRA process and for environmental related projects.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Ability to develop a strong network in the local and international marketplace.
Exceptional organizational, technical, leadership, written and oral communication and attention to detail skills.
Strong technical writing skills.
Education and Experience
Minimum of a M.S. in Hydrogeology is required.
Minimum of 20 years of experience
Professional registration (PG or PE) or the ability to obtain a registration.
