The Sacramento, Calif., office of MWH, now part of Stantec, is at the forefront of solving many of California’s most complex water resources challenging through strategies that integrate effective stakeholder engagement with industry-leading technical expertise. We have an immediate opening for a Senior Public Affairs Specialist to join our communication and engagement group responsible for development and delivery of strategic consulting services to a range of local, regional, state and federal clients. The successful candidate will join a group with decades of experience in full-service public relations, public affairs, government affairs, facilitation and mediation. Your Key Responsibilities
Plan and implement public information and public affairs programs that support the goals and objectives of water resource management, natural resources, environmental management, and land management projects and programs.
Lead development and distribution of newsletters, news releases, fact sheets, brochures, advertisements, promotional videos and other collateral materials for a variety of communication platforms, including internet and intranet web pages.
Lead development, implementation and facilitation of public meetings, public hearings, workgroups, site tours, media events, and other community events as appropriate.
Develop and manage social media, multi-media and various web projects and programs as appropriate.
Research, schedule and conduct interviews for development of articles and technical reports on various topics.
Develop, implement and analyze stakeholder and public opinion polls/surveys, focus groups and associated methods as needed.
Coordinate with clients, regulatory agencies and subcontractors as necessary.

Your Capabilities and Credentials
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Strong interpersonal abilities for working in diverse team environments with staff, clients, and stakeholders
Education and Experience
Master’s or bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in communication, public relations, public or business administration, journalism, English, or a closely related field.
10 or more years of experience in the following subject matter areas preferred, but not required:
California water resources (including river systems/water-related infrastructure and applicable laws/policies/regulations) and Federal planning processes.
Surface water, groundwater, and recycled water supply projects.
Flood management and conveyance.
Natural resource management and environmental restoration.
Western U.S. water resources industry, infrastructure and applicable laws, policies and regulations.
California Native American Tribes, Environmental Justice, and Disadvantaged Communities.
Experience in the following technical areas preferred, but not required:
Technical writing and editing of complex integrated water resource programs and projects
Major marketing campaigns and new business development
Multi-media marketing and advertising campaigns
