Your Opportunity

Stantec's Nevada team is currently seeking a Jr. Level Author/Intermediate Environmental Specialist. The successful candidate will work in a team environment and will be responsible for conducting research and digesting information to prepare concise environmental analysis in NEPA documents.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Draft various environmental reports.

  • Provide support to technical experts in obtaining regulatory permits and environmental compliance activities.

  • Assist with project management, as well as presentations to clients and agencies.

  • Lead, work with, and support senior planners, resource specialists, and project managers in the preparation of environmental plans and studies.

  • Participate in multi-disciplinary project teams and gain experience in all phases of work execution and delivery.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Experience with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and/or expertise in NEPA technical resource areas. Department of the Interior and Department of Agriculture familiarity or experience is a plus.

  • Ability to quickly read, digest, and write proficiently about environmental topics.

  • Demonstration of analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Experience in technical/desktop editing.

  • Self-starter with ability to work independently, as well as with a group.

  • Experience with data analysis.

  • Demonstrated organizational, communication (verbal and electronic), research, and writing skills.

  • Working knowledge of environmental compliance and permitting programs.

  • Computer/software proficiency required (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat)

  • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record required.

Education and Experience

The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, or related field, or relevant work experience. A minimum of two years of experience, including some environmental permitting and National Environmental Policy Act writing is preferred. The preferred candidate will be self-motivated and possess the following attributes: Excellent organizational and communication skills; Strong report writing skills; Ability to work in a busy, fast paced, team environment; and Willingness to learn.

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Ability to work from home during the Covid-19 pandemic with Stantec’s support. Ability to lift and move items and equipment up to 50 lbs.
