The role of a Civil Engineer in Training (EIT) is to work on smaller projects, and as a team member of a larger project, under the close guidance and supervision of a senior engineer/designer. You will perform a variety of tasks, which may include design, drafting, calculations, and field work.
Your Key Responsibilities
Uses knowledge of relevant civil engineering design for roadways, drainage, grading, water and sewer, and land development projects.
Assists team in preparing reports, conducts basic calculations, and performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.
Conduct field work to obtain pictures, measurements, or relevant site information as directed by a senior engineer/designer.
Assists with collecting data and gathering information to support design decisions.
Performs basic calculations to analyze and design civil system components using various software.
Assists in basic interpretation and verifying compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards and practices.
Prepares drawings with AutoCAD Civil 3D.
Support construction inspection reviews on various civil projects.
Assists with engineering duties on projects of various complexity.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Basic understanding of civil engineering concepts and ability to effectively communicate ideas to others.
Ability to interpret sketches, drawings, and other similar material.
Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite.
Basic understanding of AutoCAD Civil 3D.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Developing cooperative skills in working efficiently with a team.
Focused on safety and comfortable working in office, field, and construction settings.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering. Minimum of 0-2 years of experience. Co-op/Internship experience preferred.
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
