Your Opportunity

As an Intern, you will work in a team environment and have exposure to water infrastructure projects which may include water and wastewater plants, pump stations, water supply, distribution, etc. Candidates should be highly motivated and dependable students who are taking or have taken water resources or water-treatment-type courses. This is a terrific opportunity for a college student to support a number of exciting local and national projects.

The Stantec Phoenix office is looking for a Fall semester Intern to join their team. This local individual will currently be working on his/her Electrical Engineering degree with an emphasis on Power Systems from an accredited university.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Learns how to set up new CAD drawings and project files and maintains file structure for projects

  • Works with project managers and technical design staff to prepare drawing documentation

  • Creates electronic data files in compliance with Stantec and client requirements

  • Converts redlined drawings to document-ready work

  • Publishes, posts, and manages drawing sets

  • Maintains drawing revisions

  • Walk project sites to understand field conditions and/or observe construction progress

  • Participate in Stantec Internal Training

  • Observe and/or coordinate directly with Project Engineers and/or technical design staff for other disciplines

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills

  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and take direction

  • Knowledge of state and federal regulations, policies, and programs, are a plus

  • Is not easily distracted by social media

  • Ability to demonstrate a credible and trustworthy presence through professionalism, demeanor, and technical knowledge

Education and Experience

  • In progress toward earning a Bachelor's degree (minimum) in Electrical Engineering with an emphasis in Power

  • Basic familiarity with power, grounding and lighting is preferred

  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD is preferred

  • Basic ability to interpret National Electric Code (NFPA 70) is preferred

Typical office environment working with computers and working at a desk for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
