Tasks and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Accurately read and interpret architectural, structural and building system engineering drawings
Prepare detailed engineering system design calculations including HVAC building heating and cooling load calculations and also ductwork and piping system pressure loss calculations.
Perform basic engineering analysis and load summaries to facilitate equipment selection with supervision.
Design portions of the building HVAC systems; ductwork distribution, piping distribution with supervision.
Model HVAC systems distribution and create sheet files in Revit with established modeling standards with supervision.
Set up project sheets and prepare drawing lists
Review drawings and documents for presentation and accuracy prior to submittal
Participate in active coordination across architecture and engineering disciplines.
Adhere to in house calculation methods and standards.
Adhere to in house project procedures and quality control practices.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Must have Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field of study.
Must have a minimum of 2 - 5 years’ experience designing mechanical systems for any of the following building types; healthcare, commercial offices, higher education, research laboratory or similar applications.
Hands on experience in creating mechanical distribution models in Revit Building Information modeling (BIM) software is required. All project work is expected to be produced in Revit 2017 and the applicant should be proficient in same.
Proficiency in utilizing HVAC load calculation software; Trane Trace or other programs.
Design proficiency utilizing AutoCAD 2014 is a plus.
Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, PowerPoint, Word and Excel is required
Excellent communication skills are required, both verbal and written
Active pursuit of Engineering in Training (EIT) examination is a plus.
LEED Accredited Professional status is a plus.
Knowledge or desire to complete energy modeling using Trane Trace is a plus.
Basic knowledge of plumbing/fire protection design for renovation projects is a plus.
