Due to exciting growth in our Australian Energy and Resources Business, we have positions available for full-time or part-time intermediate and/or senior level scientists to join our Rehabilitation and Mine Closure and Geoscience teams, based in our Perth office.

We have a comprehensive pipeline of projects within the Pilbara, Goldfields, South-West and Kimberley bioregions of Western Australia, as well as across Australia into Queensland and Victoria. In addition to our clients, we engage with regulators and researchers through organisations such as the Cooperative Research Centre for Transformations in Mining Economies (CRC-TiME) and the Western Australian Biodiversity Science Institute (WABSI).

Joining Stantec in this role, you will carry out the following:

•\tCo-ordinate technical studies to inform rehabilitation performance, rehabilitation and closure planning, completion criteria development

•\tLead and/or undertake fieldwork on active or closed mine sites in remote and regional Australia

•\tAnalyse and interpret ecological data and prepare clear, concise technical reports

•\tPreparation of proposals, budgets, and tender documents

•\tDevelop client relationships

•\tYou will also have the opportunity to expand your knowledge across various disciplines (terrestrial and aquatic ecology, remote sensing, marine science and environmental approvals), and undertake training and development to drive your career progression.

To be successful in the role you’ll need:

•\tTertiary qualifications in Environmental Science, Botany, Conservation Biology, Ecology or related discipline.

•\tProven professional experience directly relevant to the role, ideally with an environmental consultancy or mining company.

•\tDemonstrated familiarity with Australian flora, ideally with field identification skills.

•\tExperience in rehabilitation planning or ecological monitoring/survey in an Australian mining or oil and gas industry context

•\tExcellent written and verbal communication skills, including highly developed technical reporting skills.

•\tFamiliarity with state government regulatory guidance on completion criteria development and mine closure planning.

•\tExperience in ArcGIS and remote sensing will be highly regarded.

•\tAbility to work well in a team environment.

•\tAn interest in embracing innovation to continually improve the work we do.
