You will perform program research and technical support services in relation to biology. You may also be required to write reports and implement steps to move projects toward closure in the most cost-effective manner.
Your Key Responsibilities
Supporting the field survey team in assisting with acoustic bat surveys
Conducting desktop searches for environmental sensitive resources
Completing biophysical field surveys (soils, wetlands, fish and fish habitat, wildlife, vegetation)
Entering and analyzing survey data
Writing reports with the oversight and support of intermediate/senior staff
Working independently and in a team environment
Up to 50% travel may be required
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Working understanding of policies and procedures for HSSE, including client-specific training (as required).
Working knowledge of field sampling techniques.
Must have the willingness to learn new skills while conducting field work in rural settings and flexibility in undertaking work assignments and work independently for long hours in the field as necessary.
Experience/knowledge of hazardous materials as emergency response are desirable.
Demonstrates use and understanding of policies and procedures as appropriate to their work.
Good technical writing skills.
Exhibits a strong attention to detail.
Conscientious, organized, and disciplined.
Builds and maintains productive professional and personal networking relationships with their technical team members.
Proficient in MS Office applications.
Knowledge in GIS software is an asset.
Good driving record and valid driver's license required.
Prior to employment with Stantec, this postion requires successful passing of a drug screen.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Biology, or related field.
Minimum of 0-2 years work experience.
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather. Ability to lift and move items and equipment up to 50 lbs.
