Your Opportunity

As a GIS Analyst with Stantec, this specific opportunity will be responsible for managing a database of flood reduction infrastructure of a four-state area. Goals will include formatting the database to meet schema requirements established by FEMA, ensuring attributes are accurate with documented quality control, all relationships between tables and other the databases are maintained and sound, fine-tuning attributes, and maintaining the status of several fields in the database as projects progress. The manager of this database must develop ownership of the data and be comfortable discussing the database with FEMA leadership. You will also provide technical GIS support which includes mapping applications, spatial analysis, and map production; as well as provide support for assigned projects.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Creating, editing, and maintaining relational geospatial databases

  • Complete tasks on schedule with pride and ownership of your work

  • Conduct assignments/projects with a high degree of initiative and independence

  • Conduct independent studies and analysis making interpretations and typical decisions. Exercises independent judgment in selecting and interpreting information, handling deviations from standard methods and resolving problems

  • Manage wide variety of project-specific geospatial data

  • Create maps and perform a wide range of geospatial analyses in support of the Overland Park, KS office's Environmental Services projects

  • Update and maintain mapping standards and work processes

  • Participates and contributes to a productive, innovative, and collaborative work environment. May provide technical advice and direction to other technical staff

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Database Management experience is key to being successful in this position

  • Proficient with ESRI ArcGIS software including 3D Analyst and Spatial Analyst

  • Online GIS mapping experience preferred using, but not limited to use of Java, Google Maps API, SQL Server, and ArcGIS Online

  • Demonstrated GIS Programming experience using technology such as Python, JavaScript, Node.js, C#, Oracle, PostgreSQL, SQL, and related skills

  • Detailed oriented, organized, and a work ethic to achieve high quality results

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English

Education and Experience

4-yr Degree with 2 yr Work Experience Required; or Graduate Degree with 0 yrs Work Experience

GISP Certification and/or Graduate Degree Preferred

Experience using GIS in water and environmental projects is preferred
