Your Opportunity

You will work under the guidance of Stantec’s corporate Indigenous Relations team as Indigenous Relations Policy & Federal Funding Analyst Intern, supporting them on their key strategic initiatives, specifically in relation to Indigenous federal funding opportunities. We are looking for a creative, analytical, and detail-oriented person to join our team. You must be self-directed and ambitious to succeed in the fast-paced consulting environment.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Perform market analysis for Stantec on available Indigenous-focused federal funding

  • Perform holistic risk / opportunity assessments of Indigenous communities on a case-by-case basis

  • Support Indigenous Relations team on improving Stantec’s internal tracking systems

  • Assist in various business development efforts such as writing proposals and coordinating with employees across Stantec's business lines and regions.

  • Prepare reports, presentations, and key speaking notes for the Indigenous Relations team to present to Stantec senior leadership.

  • Strong research and critical-thinking skills

  • An eye for strategic data analytics

  • Strong financial acumen

  • Desire to be part of a team that is striving to ensure long-term, mutually-beneficial and sustainable relationships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Peoples

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for dealing with clients and team members (both virtually and in person)

  • Ability to work effectively while managing multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines

  • Proficient in Excel, Word, & PowerPoint

  • Experience with federal contracts, grants or policy will be considered an asset

Education and Experience

Currently in your 3rd year or higher of a Bachelor degree program, currently enrolled in a Master’s degree Program, or a soon to be graduate of a Bachelor or Master's program. Preference will be given to students in a business, political science, or economic program.

NOTE: This is an 8 month student term, with an expected start date of January 2019.

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
