Your Opportunity:

An opportunity exists for a talented, and ambitious senior GIS Specialist in our Ottawa or Stoney Creek, ON offices to provide both business and technical knowledge of GIS solutions, to fit the needs of our internal and external clients. Prior experience in the delivery of GIS projects, particularly in the field of environmental monitoring and remediation is beneficial in qualifying for this role. Current GIS projects involve application of GIS solutions for data related to spill response, groundwater and water resource management, environmental assessment and site monitoring.

As part of our Environmental Services group the successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Creating and maintaining spatial information in a variety of platforms, including ESRI software suite and Autodesk products

• Editing, analyzing, and creating GIS figures on an as-needed basis

• Researching a variety of data, maintenance of data, creating and editing feature classes, file geodatabases and implementing QA/QC procedures and standards for data storage, cartography, and project processes

• Monitors own work and that of the team to ensure budgets and schedules are being met

• Recognizes when technical problems are developing and initiates appropriate corrective actions

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience and knowledge in working within the ESRI suite of GIS applications

  • Working knowledge and familiarity with MS Access databases and MS Excel spreadsheets, along with up-to-date technical knowledge and an understanding of current IT and industry specific trends is highly desirable

  • Previous experience in GIS data management and analysis and cartographic figure production in the environmental management, remediation, or groundwater resource fields

  • Successful track record in a consulting services environment would be considered an asset

  • Motivated individual with strong collaboration/communication skills, strong attention to fine details, and excellent organizational skills

  • Ability to manage and prioritize several simultaneous assignments while ensuring on-time delivery of deliverables during busy periods

  • Previous experience using ESRI’s ArcGIS Online Collector for field data collection would be an asset

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in GIS or related discipline Minimum of 5-6 years of experience.

Position will work in both a field and office setting.
