Stantec’s is looking for an Entry Level Transportation Planner to join our brand new, multidisciplinary New York City office. The Transportation Planner will work on a variety of traffic studies focusing on traffic operations, transportation planning, safety, and toll road traffic and revenue forecasting.
Your Key Responsibilities
Perform transportation planning studies, traffic operations analysis, traffic impact studies, speed studies, toll road feasibility studies, traffic signal timing analysis, crash analysis, and roadway safety audits
Prepare microsimulation modeling, roadway operations design, prepare signal timing plans, traffic management plans, signing plans, and pavement marking.
Travel demand modeling, including model preparation and analysis of results.
Assist with traffic data collection and data analysis, write reports , and other technical assignments
Draft technical memoranda and provide traffic engineering and transportation planning input to projects within transportation disciplines
Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Candidates with prior internships / co-ops in transportation planning and engineering are preferred.
EIT certification preferred
Experience with Microsoft Excel and Word. Experience with HCS, Synchro, VISSIM, Cube, and computer programming is a plus.
Good interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal)
Ability to work in a team environment
Education and Experience
Bachelor's of Science (B.S) degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Planning, or Operations Research. A master's degree is a plus.
Typical office environment working with computers. Some travel may be required, such as delivering plans or documents to reviewing agencies or clients or to attend meetings. May occasionally visit study areas, construction sites and/or be exposed to outside elements and inclement weather conditions.
