Your Key Responsibilities
The Architect will work full time at the Port Authority of NYNJ’s office in Jersey City, NJ. Primary responsibilities will involve performing Tenant Alteration Application review services, including code compliance review of Construction documents, and permitting of construction projects. Under the supervision of the design standards Manager and the Supervising Architect, the Architect will be responsible for reviewing architectural design documents for tenant projects at the Port Authority facilities for compliance with applicable construction codes and Port Authority technical standards.
Tasks may include:
Analyzing and reviewing drawings, specifications, reports, and studies for compliance with codes and standards;
Coordinating the review comments from other technical disciplines and preparing memoranda for transmitting comments to the line departments;
Attending meetings with tenant design consultants to discuss the review comments and resolving those issues.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Architectural license in either NY or NJ is required
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Computer proficiency preferred in scheduling, word processing, spreadsheet software
Experience with the design and construction of commercial and transportation facilities
Strong understanding of various building codes and how they are applied to construction
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Architecture & Registered Architect. Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in similar firm or regulatory setting is required.
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
