Stantec has a healthy and diverse workload, and we are looking to strengthen our team in the Nelson/Blenheim area with a suitably experienced transport engineer ideally with some consultancy experience.

About the role

Support project managers, project technical leads and Engineers to the Contract by undertaking site monitoring, engineering calculations, site investigations, design, report writing and drawing preparation for a variety of projects. This is your chance to take that next step and use your technical know-how together with your investigation, analytical and design skills to deliver excellent service to our key and emerging clients in New Zealand.

We work in multi-disciplinary teams to provide cost-effective, practical, innovative technology and engineering solutions. There will be a mix of transportation projects, including council, Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency and private sector.

The role in a snapshot will encompass the following:

•\tUndertake construction monitoring on road improvement projects to ensure compliance with specification, as the Engineers Representative or their assistant.

•\tCarry out site investigations, design and feasibility studies for proposed projects.

•\tProduce calculations, specifications and geometric drawings to ensure that technical designs provide appropriate solutions.

•\tUndertake geometric drawing in Civil 3D, 12D, OpenRoads and CAD.

•\tWith senior engineers, determine clients’ needs, budgets and expectations of design specification.

•\tAssist with planning, co-ordination and report writing.

•\tOrganise tender documents, preparation of proposals, assist in the evaluation of tenders and administration of contracts.

•\tAssist with the planning, programming and co-ordination of specific projects in conjunction with the project manager or project technical lead to ensure that clients’ needs are identified and met.

•\tContribute to the achievement of project management targets and assist the project manager as required.

•\tComplete other duties as may be assigned from time to time from management.

To be successful for this role you'll need:

•\tRelevant technical qualification e.g. BEng. NZCE, BEngTech, Dip Eng.

•\tMinimum 4 years’ relevant professional experience in traffic engineering, road safety and/or construction monitoring.

•\tStrong investigation, analytical and report writing skills.

•\tAble to build trust and provide support to peers and clients.

•\tExperience in both the public and private sectors.

•\tHave a strong interest in professional development and building a challenging career in transport engineering and road safety.
