Within our Transportation team, our Transit Advisory Group is focused on providing management consulting services such as business planning, operational analysis, fleet reviews, financial analysis, organizational change, asset management, economic analysis, and strategy support. We primarily serve public sector transit agencies in North America but offer our services to private sector clients as well. In this capacity, we work with executive and senior management clients to improve performance and ensure the application of industry leading practices in the provision of effective and efficient transit.
The Transit Advisory Lead position offers great opportunities for professional growth. The Transit Advisory Lead represents Stantec at the highest levels of our client’s organizations. You will have the opportunity to lead a motivated team located both in Canada and US that works on diverse transit-related projects that span all elements of the industry, including but not limited to planning, operations, fleet, infrastructure, technology, customer service, marketing, and other management consulting services. As part of our team, you will also have the opportunity to work directly with clients and other subject-matter leaders on a regular basis. In addition, you will also have the opportunity to work with the broader Stantec team, including Transportation Planning, Traffic Engineering, Urban Places, and the Transit Buildings and Rail groups, leading to further career growth and opportunity.
The successful applicant is expected to lead pursuits and projects. This role carries an elevated level of responsibility including strategically managing relationships with Stantec’s clients. The successful candidate will meet regularly with clients at their offices. Meeting hours and locations may require flexibility and can occur anywhere in North America.
Your Key Responsibilities
Represent Stantec in a leadership capacity
Act as Project Manager on Transit Advisory projects in accordance with Stantec’s PM Framework
Network with and develop new clients and projects in the Transit Advisory space
Provide technical leadership and supervision of tasks, working with a range of cross-business line colleagues and subconsultants
Manage and lead a team of management consultants
Provide coaching and mentoring to entry-, mid-level and senior-level staff
Operational analysis and transit performance assessments
Economics, cost-benefit, and financial analysis
Spatial analysis of infrastructure
Transit service planning
Research, as well as stakeholder outreach and engagement
Reporting writing and documentation
A typical assignment may include researching best practices, conducting a survey, developing a quantitative model, analyzing the use of space at transit terminals, developing a business case, reporting and client presentations.

Strong business development skills
Strong project management skills
Strong analytical and quantitative skills
Strong organizational skills
Significant experience with management consulting
Strong knowledge of transit and paratransit operations
Ability to think creatively, work independently and deliver high quality work with minimal supervision
Ability to work in a team environment, synthesize problems, and communicate point of view and analytical results
Excellent interpersonal skills: this position requires a high degree of interaction with varied individuals from different functional groups
Excellent written and verbal communication skills: this position requires a high degree of involvement in meetings and regular communication to various stakeholders
Valid driver’s license
Education and Experience
Master’s Degree in Business, Economics, Sustainability, Transportation Planning, or other relevant degree
Minimum of 10-15 years’ experience in transit
Minimum 5 years’ experience in management consulting
Valid professional accreditations relevant to the role
Experienced in report and proposal writing
Experienced in business development and presenting to large audiences including Boards of Directors, City Councils and C-Level executives at transit agencies.
Typical office environment working with computers at a desk for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
