With a strong and increasing current workload and continued growth expected, we are now looking for experienced Economists and Senior Economists to join our team in Manchester. This is a good opportunity to join a close-knit group that are based in our office in the heart of Manchester and work throughout the country. Our Manchester team is growing and working on some exciting planning projects in and around the Greater Manchester area ranging from the Northern Gateway Development zone to HB Villages Developments. We are also actively supporting clients on Towns Fund business cases and Levelling Up Fund applications.
At Stantec, our economists are an integral part of our design teams and their understanding of what benefits residential, business and wider communities informs our project development. Our economists provide invaluable support in developing funding and business cases, assessing economic impact of proposals and in supporting planning and other consenting applications through sound economic arguments.
You will work across our main markets, supporting public and private infrastructure development ranging from road, rail, air and sea transport, energy and its distribution, as well as digital and communication. You will support our residential, commercial, industrial, leisure and media clients, clearly presenting the economic case for their investments. You will also have the opportunity to work across a broad range of public policy and funding programme areas in support of our clients.
You will work on a range of interesting urban planning, regeneration and economic development projects as well as using your economic analysis skills to shape case making proposals. At Stantec we have been active recently across a range of prepare future development strategies to guide development for our public and private clients - increasingly significant in the context of City and Rural Growth Deals, and specific funding streams such as the Levelling Up Fund, Future High Streets Fund, Towns Fund and UK Shared Prosperity Fund. As well as working broadly across the built environment sectors you will also be given opportunity to work on a range of public policy matters.
You’ll have an urban geography, economics, economic development, planning or related degree and relevant experience in economic development/ strategy/ economic analysis/ Green Book-compliant five case business cases and a familiarity with consultancy support to the public sector. You’ll have a good understanding and experience of economic development and the regeneration process as well as familiarity with Government guidance for economic appraisal.
Your understanding and experience of understanding the economic principles associated with development and infrastructure will be important to your success. Successful case making for investment is at the heart of what our economists do and they do it from within a global multi-disciplinary consultancy environment.
