Stantec’s Louisville, KY office is looking for a Senior Environmental Scientist to serve as a Team Leader for our Louisville Natural Resources group and develop work and provide environmental support for clients in the transportation, electric transmission, and other business sectors for environmental and mitigation projects in the Southeastern US.
Your Key Responsibilities
Be responsible for growing a group of environmental professionals as well as lead business development efforts.
Coordinate with clients, regulatory/resource agencies, and local governments.
Assist with technical studies and ecological resource assessments such as wetland delineations, habitat assessments, rare species and wildlife investigations, and other natural resource surveys.
Prepare state and federal 401/404 permit applications.
Help develop mitigation sites and ecological restoration projects.
Assist in the preparation of NEPA documentation including environmental impact statements (EISs), Environmental Assessments (EAs), and Categorical Exclusions (CEs).
Perform research, conduct environmental analyses (field and desktop), develop recommendations, and assist in the preparation of technical reports under NEPA.
Provide quality assurance and quality control for all final products to ensure technical accurateness and regulatory compliance.
Prepare proposals and cost estimates for clients and support other business development activities conducted in the region.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Proficient in policies and procedures for HSSE, including client-specific training, leads by example, and applies these policies and procedures as appropriate to their work.
Solid skills in technical writing and public speaking.
Observing and developing skills in communications and technical information exchange with clients, engineers and scientists, government regulators and agencies, and academia, as well as non-technical communication to the public.
Able to build strong relationships with key clients with respect to their technical area and the broader business objectives in their regions.
Builds and maintains productive professional and personal networking relationships.
Drives collaborative efforts within the Business Center and beyond to deliver consistent, high quality and appropriately scoped technical work.
Interest in business development for transportation or other projects in the Southeast region. This position will require some travel.
Experience providing environmental services to the transportation sector, with experience on a wide variety of environmental projects including permitting, NEPA and ecosystem restoration.
Experience leading project teams to successful completion.
Strong work ethic, sense of humor and desire for team success.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science or related field.
Master’s degree or other professional degree specializing in science or engineering preferred.
Minimum of 10 years of professional consulting experience demonstrating progressive responsibility.
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather. Ability to lift and move items and equipment up to 50 lbs.
