Join Stantec's Los Angeles Project Team on the Purple Line extension project as an MEP Insector
Review, track, process and distribute submittals, RFI’s, RFC’s, design submittals, shop drawings, product data, and work plans. Review submittals, deliverables and other construction documents for completeness and accuracy.
Per the contract’s approved quality management plan (QMP), confirming and reporting the design-builder’s approved quality control (QC) inspectors performs all required technical inspections and schedule all utility and third party hold point inspections for compliance. Inspections include but are not limited to electrical equipment, stray current systems, vapor systems, mechanical equipment, support of excavation steel, erection steel, welding, ventilation, air, gas and wet pipes, landscaping, irrigation, soil compaction, concrete strengths, asphalt pavement mixes and reinforcing steel bars.
Notifying Metro’s Quality group of compliant and non-compliant test results and issues.
Interpreting plans, RFIs, technical submittals, change orders and contract specifications along with applicable utility and building codes to confirm design-builder and the contractor’s QC team are complying with the contract documents.
Professionally communicating and coordinating with Metro Construction Management, Metro Quality, Metro Safety, Metro Construction Relations, and Metro Environmental staff along with third party regulatory agency inspectors, utility field representatives, local business, pedestrians, motorist, law enforcement, CalOSHA representatives, City of LA and Beverly Hills residents to ensure and document the design-builder is adhering to Metro policies.
As a member of the inspection team, critical ancillary duties include inspecting and managing corrections to implemented approved traffic control plans, truck haul route compliance, work hours, SWPPP, track-out best management practices (BMPs), dust BMPs and construction noise compliance which includes periodically performing noise monitoring tests, submitting noise reports, etc.
Working shifts that vary over time to include day, swing and night work hours as well as include working on weekdays and weekends. Working overtime. Sharing inspection knowledge and learning new inspection skills from Metro inspection team.
Documenting the design-builders work by producing daily inspection reports (DIRs), multiple construction photographs with descriptive labels, incident reports when applicable, work shift progress updates via email for weekend work, noise reports when directed, and materials, labor and equipment activity logs.
Attend regular safety trainings, inspection team meetings and other project related meetings as directed.
Maintaining, supporting, and promoting a safe work environment while complying with LACMTA’s safety rules, policies, and procedures.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
A minimum of five (5) years of experience for Associate positions with two (2) years of experience as a Senior and/or Lead inspector position which reflects a progressively increasing level of responsibility on complex projects as a General Contractor superintendent, Building Construction Supervisor, Construction Inspector of large commercial and/or industrial projects, heavy construction projects, transportation and/or transit construction projects that include utilities, civil, architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical track and/or tunnel work.
ICC Certificate of Reinforced Concrete or Masonry, ACI Registered Contraction
Inspector License, comparable Deputy Inspection License for a county for city agency.
NICET certification, or other alternative certification form from a nationally recognized organization to inspect the mentioned disciplines above are preferred.
Cal-OSHA/OSHA 30 training certification.
Must have valid drivers license and clean driving record.
