Your Opportunity

As a Junior Environmental Technician or

Engineer you will work within our Site Investigation and Remediation team on a

variety of projects, providing field sampling and monitoring services as well

as helping with the development of technical reports, as required.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Planning, supporting and conducting site assessments (e.g., Phase I ESA,Phase II ESA)

  • Coordinating field programs including coordination with laboratories,equipment rental agencies, and sub-contractors

  • Conducting drilling programs including soil logging and sampling

  • Conducting surface water and groundwater sampling

  • Assisting with the operation and calibration of testing equipment

  • Completing detailed technical reports

  • Assisting with the preparation of proposals for the above-noted types ofprojects

  • Travel within Canada (primarily Western Canada) will be required

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Knowledge of, and demonstrated experience with:

  • sampling techniques (soil, groundwater,surface water, soil vapour) and testing/sampling protocols

  • historical reviews and site visits forPhase I ESAs

  • Demonstrated experience with taking charge of, and directing,sub-contractors to drive investigation and remediation programs would beconsidered an asset

  • Ability to work on your own initiative as well as in a team environmentis crucial

  • A valid driver's license and vehicle is required

Education and Experience

Post-secondary training, course work, diploma or degree pertainingto environmental technology and/or engineering is a requirement.

Up to 3 years of directly applicable experience as a JuniorEnvironmental Technician, with experience in contaminated sites investigationexperience would be considered an asset.

Work would likely involve approximately 30% office work and 70%field work over the span of a typical year. Typical office environment includesworking with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Fieldwork would include working on a large assortment of sites (mostly commercial orindustrial) in both urban and rural settings, will include working withcontractors, and will include exposure to the elements including inclementweather. Ability to, squat, bend, and lift and move items and equipment up to50 lbs will be required.
