Stantec Consulting Services Inc. has an immediate opening for a Professional Surveyor and Mapper in Jackson, MS.
Your Key Responsibilities
Prepares data, charts, plots, maps, records and documents related to surveys.
Responsible for the acquisition of survey data for Boundary, Control, GPS, Hydrogrphic, Sub-surface Utilities, and LiDAR projects.
Takes initiative on tasks and in coordinating with other members of the survey team.
Completes tasks and delegates specific project tasks to other team members, as appropriate.
Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.
Registration and extraction of LiDAR based survey data in Cyclone and TopoDOT.
Client interaction for surveying projects.
Calculations and production of Surveys, maps, and reports including alignments, surfaces, profiles, drainage systems, contours, boundaries, right of ways, and descriptions.
Complete internal and external training as required.
Field crew supervision will sometimes require time spent at project location.
Surveyors must be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and adhere to Company safety policies.
May occasionally require overnight stays for project safety practices, and quality control.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Processing and quality control of data acquisition in Trimble Business Center, StarNet, Bentley Microstation SS4, and Geopak platforms.
Working knowledge of LiDAR, GPS, Robotics, Terrestrial Scanners, and Traditional Survey techniques.
Ability to solve problems using sound professional judgment, creativity, and innovation.
Knowledge of state and local laws, surveying principles, techniques and procedures, occupational hazards, and safety precautions.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrates strong math skills, including algebra and trigonometry.
Experience with Microstation, Geopak, Cyclone, TopoDOT are preferred.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Geomatics, Surveying or related field & Licensed in Land Surveying or equivalent
Licensure. Minimum of 10 years of experience.
Position will work in both a field and office setting. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather. Must be available to travel for out-of-town projects when needed.
