Your Opportunity

The Senior Structural Engineer will be responsible for leading the Houston bridge design team and being actively involved in projects to meet schedules and resolve problems. They will be responsible for preparing designs and ensuring the development and delivery of successful structural projects for bridges, highway interchanges, transit and railroad infrastructure. It is expected that the Senior Structural Engineer supports business development and the delivery of proposals. Provides resources and schedules in response to specified completion dates and technical applications.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Directs/performs simple to complex bridge design and analysis

  • Be responsible for the development and review of engineering calculations, drawing details, specifications, quantities and cost estimates.

  • Maintains thorough understanding of state-of-the art practices in highway and railway bridges.

  • Provides opportunities for technical growth and knowledge sharing to expand the technical capabilities of the bridge group.

  • Provides technical oversight and quality assurance on multiple bridge design projects.

  • Leverages project experience and relationships to win bridge work.

  • Review and/or approve contractor submittals during construction.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Ability to lead one or more teams through all phases of project document production

  • Technical expert in all relevant areas of design and understanding of various design methods

  • Demonstrated technical ability in designing and rehabilitating highway bridges.

  • Expert in use of AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications and TxDOT design standards and manuals

  • Experienced in using AREMA.

  • Proficient in using structural analysis software such as STAAD Pro, Conspan, RC Pier, MDX and DOT software.

  • Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting, engage in creative and critical thought, and effectively communicate design issues and solutions to others.

Education and Experience

Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE), MS in Structural Engineering preferred.

PE license in Texas or ability to obtain in 6 months

Minimum of 15 years experience with transportation structure design
