Stantec is seeking a Professional Engineer to be a part of the growing team in our Fairfax, VA office! A Professional Engineer will perform a variety of tasks which may include managing, designing and planning highway and civil projects. You will be involved in conventional design-bid-build and design-build projects. You will analyze proposed projects for accuracy, completeness, maintain schedules and assist in business development.
Your Key Responsibilities
Manage, lead and prepare the design of streets, roadways, highways, and interchanges to meet local, state and federal requirements
Planning, analysis and design of projects, scheduling staff, review of work, training and mentoring staff, proposal preparation, project presentation, project management, fiscal management, and contract negotiations
Drainage and stormwater management analysis and design
Perform other various tasks involved in preliminary engineering and creation of final design plans for highway projects.
Coordinates with the agency review to seek final approval.
Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Comprehensive understanding of all phases of project document production.
Ability to make decisions and work independently
Ability to effectively discuss project issues with clients and reviewing agencies
Possesses excellent time-management skills; Thorough understanding of task assignment and schedule, budgeting and efficient use of time and resources.
Proficient in relevant design software including Microstation, GEOPAK/ OpenRoads
Knowledge of work with VDOT and Virginia municipalities is preferred
Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
Minimum of 8 years of experience.
Virginia Professional Engineer (PE) Licensure required.
Position will primarily work in an office setting; may require some minor field work.
