Your Opportunity

Stantec is seeking a highly qualified Construction Inspector (CI) to join our team in El Paso, TX, supporting civil infrastructure projects. The CI will be responsible for on-site inspection, construction management, and quality assurance of complex civil works including earthwork, roads, utilities, and levees. This role requires a detail-oriented professional with strong technical expertise, communication skills, and a commitment to excellence in construction oversight. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead on-site inspection activities to verify conformance with contract documents and record as-constructed conditions.

  • Monitor construction progress and prepare detailed daily reports, including photographic documentation.

  • Identify and communicate site-related construction challenges to the project team for timely resolution.

  • Attend and document construction progress meetings, including action items and key discussions.

  • Serve as the primary on-site liaison for contractors, clients, and government representatives.

  • Review RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, construction schedules, and as-built drawings.

  • Ensure compliance with environmental protection measures and safety standards.

  • Train and mentor junior staff in inspection procedures and documentation standards.

  • Conduct plan reviews for contractor site plans, utility layouts, and municipal infrastructure.

  • Maintain accurate and thorough meeting minutes with minimal corrections. "

    Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Fluent in written and spoken English.

  • Strong verbal and written communication and organizational skills.

  • Ability to interact effectively with contractors, government agencies, and project stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated independent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

  • Proficient in ASTM, ACI, and other construction testing standards.

  • Experience with nuclear gauges and construction safety protocols.

  • Skilled in Microsoft Office (especially Excel); AutoCAD and Civil 3D experience is a plus.

  • Must be fully competent in documenting meetings and construction activities.

  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally as needed.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (Civil, Construction, or Geology) from an ABET-accredited program OR registration as a Professional Engineer in the U.S. in a related discipline.

  • Minimum 5 years in construction management, field inspection, or supervision of civil works projects with at least 2 years of experience in earthwork inspection and working with restrictive soil types and conducting soils testing.

  • Minimum 1 year of Federal Government construction inspection experience.

  • Familiarity with environmental protection measures on construction sites.
