Stantec is currently seeking an Urban Planner for our Edmonton, AB office.

Your Duties

  • Preparation and/or analysis of planning related policy documents, site plans, subdivisions, road closure and rezoning applications.

  • Ability to collaborate and communicate with clients, government agencies, etc.

  • Conduct research regarding planning policy, land use, social and economic topics.

  • Provide professional planning advice regarding planning policy and zoning interpretation and regulatory approvals.

  • Communicating with other multidisciplinary team members on relevant aspects of projects.

  • Presentation skills to speak to a range of audiences including the general public, business groups and municipal Councils.

  • Leading facilitation ofpublic engagement events.

  • Assist in the preparation of proposals and other business development activities.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • A degree in Urban Planning, a Master’s degree in Planning is preferred.

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant professional experience.

  • Membership/eligibility, of the Canadian Institute of Planners or Alberta Professional Planners Institute.

  • Experience in subdivision design and innovative planning approaches is considered an asset.

  • Excellent written/oral communication skills, organizational skills and high attention to detail.

  • Demonstrated public consultation experience.

  • Strong project management skills and experience of planning theory, practice and procedures.

  • Creative problem solving and analytical skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft and other programs such as InDesign are an asset.

  • A valid driver’s license.
