Our Edmonton , AB office is looking for a highly motivated Intermediate Audio Visual Communications Designer to join our growing, multi-disciplinary team. Responsibilities will include designing & project management of audio visual systems based on Avixa standards & industry best practices and providing in-depth technical support and technical services delivery for clients. Key indicators of success include high levels of client satisfaction with on-site service delivery, technical support, contractor engagement, preparing proposals, providing mentorship to an existing group of technologists and engineers, and working closely with clients, contractors, and suppliers. Responsibilities include design & project management of audio visual systems design for commercial, healthcare, industrial, institutional, public, and private facilities including Public Address and Paging, Background and Foreground Music Systems, Control Rooms, Large Format Display, Digital Signage, Video Conferencing and Unified Communications, Emergency Notification, Video Recording, AV Cabling Systems, Cabinets/Racks arrangements and Grounding & Bonding systems.
Deliver and perform Stantec’s Professional Services for Audio Visual Systems Design and Project Management activities such as pre-engagement & post-engagement site visits, customer discovery meetings, onsite assessments, reports, and other field activities as required.
Serve as technical resource lead to Field Engineers and others in assigned work group. Provide technical advice, guidance, training and input to the review and evaluation of performance.
Liaison and coordinating with external and internal clients to obtain and develop engineering projects.
Preparing proposals and engineering estimates.
Developing schedules, work breakdown, project tasks, and project execution.
Prepare project documents, specifications, and capital cost estimates.
Assist project team of designers and junior engineers
Project Management to control design budgets and cost control monitoring
Prepare engineering reports and tender drawings and documents
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, IT, or technical field
Certified Technology Specialist – Design designation (Avixa - formerly InfoComm International)
4 – 7 years relevant experience in systems engineering or similar with responsibilities and proven capabilities in the following:
Ability to read and understand floor plans and construction/demolition design drawings
Project Management of Inside Plant (ISP) works
Knowledge of audio visual and telecommunications infrastructure
Familiarity with residential & commercial building, and industrial physical infrastructure standards from TIA, IEC, and CEC
Operational knowledge of communications measurement and testing tools including Multimeters, Audio Analyzers, Impedance Meters, Waveform Monitors, and Cable Analyzers for testing & troubleshooting of audio and video systems
Thorough knowledge of Avixa standards & best practices
Knowledge of Airport Paging systems an asset
Good interpersonal skills required for internal team interfaces
Excellent verbal communication and technical writing skills required
Experience using AutoCAD or Revit is an asset
