Your Opportunity

As an Engagement Specialist within our Community Development business line, you will have the opportunity to work on planning , resource development, and environment focused projects such as downtown revitalization plans, pipelines, and park planning. Our highly experienced, multi-disciplinary team specializes in engagement and Consultation with stakeholders and Indigenous communities. We work closely with planners who design streets, public spaces, and sustainable urban plans. We connect the people, places, and resources that take a project from concept to reality.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Develop engagement plans.

  • Design tactics and engagement activities that will generate meaningful feedback

  • Create communication material including key messages, FAQs, presentations, and story boards.

  • Work with graphic artists to translate communication material into visually engaging documents.

  • Develop event plans.

  • Facilitate meetings including those that can be emotionally charged.

  • Listen generously and take notes to captures input that can change a project.

  • Document and manage records of contact.

  • Draft reports for clients based on feedback generated.

  • Work with a team on proposals including budget estimates.

  • Manage projects as required.

  • Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Takes initiative on tasks and in coordinating with other members of the team.

  • Ability to hand-draw graphics.

  • Ability to solve problems using sound professional judgment, creativity and innovation.

  • Developing knowledge of economic and legal issues involved in zoning codes, building codes and environmental regulations.

  • Working knowledge of legal and design requirements in relevant jurisdictions.

  • Basic experience with relevant drafting/design software, such as AutoCAD, GIS, SketchUp, Photoshop, InDesign, and Adobe Acrobat.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Architecture, Planning, Landscape Architecture or related field. Minimum of 2-3 years of experience.

Typical office environment working with computers. Some travel may be required (expected travel 20%), such as delivering plans or documents to reviewing agencies or clients or to attend meetings. May occasionally visit study areas, construction sites and/or be exposed to outside elements and inclement weather conditions.
