Stantec Operations Engineer (Wastewater Networks) in Doha, Qatar
Provide expert advice, guidance and support to the Head of Drainage Networks Section in the on-going transformation of the Department in line with the Ashghal Mission, Vision and Values.
Some of the initiatives that are primarily led by the Drainage Networks Section are: i) Reduction in flooding complaints, ii) Repeat contacts reduction, iii) Odour complaints resolution, iv) Quality compliance of sewage to STWs (Infiltration Investigations), and v) FOG blockages reduction. As a successful candidate, the Foul Water (FW) Networks expert would lead and manage the initiatives that support the team to achieve the objectives and targets working towards an improved customer experience. The candidate would work along with senior engineers within the existing team to identify and systematically face the challenges within the asset areas.
Key Tasks & Duties:
a) Develop and roll out an action plan to deal with key operational challenges per area
b) Establish monitoring mechanism for monthly reporting on areas’ performance with reference to complaints (Flooding, Blockage, FOG, Odour and Iron Works Response)
c) Facilitate team meetings, maintain action logs and report progress
d) Review the current reporting of the Real Time Monitoring Project from 50 FW catchments and suggest improvements to drive actions by engineers
e) Develop the requirements for remaining 50 stations to implement Real Time Monitoring
f) Liaise with procurement team for suitable working arrangement in the proposed new catchment based supply chain model
g) Support in additional reporting based on requests
h) Interpret, explain and communicate relevance of new practices, and applicable laws, rules and regulations affecting the DNO&M business to help build a strong, productive workforce within the Department and through its supply chain
i) Share relevant knowledge and experience, understand and communicate to others the various aims, concepts, principles and practices to deliver world class DNO&M services within the wider Corporate and Governmental framework
j) Ensure adherence to Health and Safety Procedures and all company policies, procedures and regulations
Operations Engineer (Wastewater Networks)
a) Degree or higher level qualification in engineering(e.g. BSc, BEng, MSc Civil)
b) Preferred Chartered Status
c) Experience in an O&M business or utility management is key
a) Minimum of 10 years’ relevant and practical experience within major water / wastewater utility organization(s)
b) Minimum of 5 years’ relevant wastewater networks experience in organization(s) undergoing significant transformation
c) Ability to drive and support strategic change focused on valued customer service
d) Experienced in leading / advising teams encompassing Foul and Surface Water Networks, and knowledge of work on Pump Stations, Wastewater Treatment Works, Pressurised Pipeline Networks
a) Qualified professional who can manage and coordinate specialised activities, disciplines or teams of moderate size and complexity
b) Leads in the formulation of advanced technical concepts
c) Provides specialist services in support of project requirements
d) Understanding of different types of contracts including performance based incentivized framework agreements
e) Able to independently perform highly complex professional assignments demanding contributions calling for the application of specialized principles
a) Excellent verbal and written communication skills to produce business cases and technical reports for adoption by a utility business
b) Ability to interact professionally with a diverse group, from executives to operators and contractors
c) Excellent supervisory and management skills, including creativity, change management, and empowerment
d) Strong analytical and project management skills
