We have an exciting opportunity for a Water Resources Engineer in Training within our growing Midwest/Great Lakes Water team. In this role you will work as part of a team under the supervision of a Senior Project Engineer on tasks for both small and large projects. Your work will involve performing engineering analyses, calculations, and hydrologic/hydraulic computer modeling.
The successful candidate will be detail oriented, outgoing, a quick learner, and have strong written and verbal communication skills. They will have the ability to be a team player who is comfortable working in multiple environments, including the office, the field, and on construction sites.
Your Key Responsibilities
Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses using steady state, unsteady state, 1-D and 2-D models.
Perform GIS analyses to support engineering and technical services.
Prepare design reports summarizing work performed on stormwater management, green infrastructure, ecosystem restoration, and other design projects.
Perform watershed planning studies to achieve flood reduction, water quality and ecological benefits.
Provide support to a diverse team of professionals in multiple offices across the country.
Complete tasks on schedule with pride and ownership of your work.
Attend project meetings involving communication to clients and/or governmental officials.
Perform civil engineering design using knowledge of relevant software programs.
Assist in developing technical documents including reports, presentations, exhibits/figures, drawings, tables, etc.
Perform other duties as assigned by the senior engineering staff.
Deployment to natural disaster areas for recovery operations is available if desired. Not required.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Basic understanding of general civil engineering concepts
Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficient with Microsoft Office software, with emphasis on Microsoft Excel
Introductory experience with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software programs, such as HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, SWMM, etc.
Introductory experience with ArcGIS and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D.
Ability to participate and collaborate in a project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought.
Ability to work and excel in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Education and Experience
Bachelor of Science degree from an ABET accredited program in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Ecological Engineering or related degree. Masters of Science degree preferred.
Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain certification within 6 months.
Minimum of 0-2 years of experience. Previous co-op/internship experience preferred.
