We have an exciting opportunity for a Project Engineer/EIT within our growing Midwest/Great Lakes Water team. This position will support a local Program Management contract for a large municipal client and the successful candidate will report directly to the client’s office daily (downtown area). The primary role will be to provide support to the Program Management Team Leads in order to help manage the design and delivery of large civil engineering water/wastewater projects and municipal program tasks for the client.
The successful candidate will be detail oriented, outgoing, a quick learner, and have strong written and verbal communication skills.
Your Key Responsibilities
Report progress of tasks to the client or Stantec Program Task Lead.
Perform basic calculations to analyze and design civil system components.
Assist with engineering duties on projects of various complexity.
Assist with collecting data and gathering information to support project/programmatic decisions.
Assists with basic interpretation and verifying compliance with applicable codes, engineering standards and practices.
Performs other duties as assigned by the senior engineering staff.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Basic understanding of municipal water/wastewater project scope and deliverables.
Solid understanding of general concepts of relevant areas of civil engineering design.
Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought.
Understanding of civil engineering concepts and ability to effectively communicate ideas to others.
Ability to interpret sketches, drawings, building program and other similar material.
Proficient with Microsoft Office software, with emphasis on Microsoft Excel
Developing cooperative skills in working efficiently within a team.
Assist in developing technical documents including reports, presentations, exhibits/figures, drawings, tables, etc.
Project Management experience is preferred but not required.
Education and Experience
Bachelor of Science degree from an ABET accredited program in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering or related degree.
Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain certification within 6 months.
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience. Previous co-op/internship experience preferred.
