If this appeals to you, then look no further than Stantec, where we have an exciting opportunity for a Hydrogeologist to join our Minerals and Mining Team. The preferred location for the position would be our Reading office; however, we have offices across the country and would be willing to discuss alternative locations.
You will contribute to and manage projects that deliver high quality, pragmatic, advice and solutions to environmental problems primarily in the quarrying and mining sector, but also in other sectors such as the water industry. You will perform a wide variety of technical field and office-based work. You will be able to conceptualise and quantitatively describe subsurface systems and processes and report on these clearly and concisely. You will be given the opportunity to develop your skills in a wide range of our core services: hydrogeological impact and flood risk assessments, hydrochemical sampling and interpretation, water resources, groundwater modelling, and catchment management. Developing an excellent understanding of project/client objectives is essential. More experienced staff, including your line manager, will mentor you in key consultancy and technical skills.
You will ideally have a postgraduate qualification in Hydrogeology or a related scientific discipline and be willing to work towards chartered status with a relevant professional body. You will have an excellent attitude to teamwork and a strong desire to learn and develop your career in a structured environment. If you’re starting out on your career after qualification, we would expect you to have a good technical understanding of hydrogeology.
If you already have some working experience, we are particularly interested in those with:
Project management experience of small to medium-sized projects
Good understanding within the minerals and/or mining sector which could include impact assessments, flood risk assessments, abstraction licensing and discharge permitting, environmental data collection, management, and reporting
