Your Opportunity

The primary role for the Civil/Structural Engineer in Training (EIT) is to support the Civil/Structural department Engineers working on related projects

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare structural steel, concrete and foundation calculation packages under the supervision of a senior engineer

  • Manage completion of drawings through drafting department in a time and cost efficient manner

  • Assist with discipline assessments

  • Utilize applicable technical knowledge to add value to projects

  • Strengthen technical knowledge through on-the-job, informal and formal training

  • Ensure appropriate reference material is utilized at all times

  • Establish and maintain positive client relationships

  • Strengthen project management knowledge

  • Coordinate and organize discipline projects such as geotechnical and survey programs, and buildings procurement

  • Participate in monthly discipline meetings and weekly project meetings

  • Liaise with other engineering departments

  • Ensure all work is completed with safety of paramount concern

  • Comply with Stantec's EH&S program, with a focus on safety in the field

  • Utilize in-house methods of quality control to complete projects

Your Capabilities and Credentials Degree in Civil Engineering

  • EIT status recognized by APEGA

  • Experienced with Canadian and other relevant standards, practices and applicable legislation

  • Ability to prepare well organized calculation packages for checking by senior engineer

  • Prepare sketches and drawing mark-ups for drafting department

  • An understanding of project management and controls processes for civil projects

  • Sound technical skills, with focus on accurate design calculations and analysis

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, analytical and problem solving skills are essential

Education and Experience

  • Degree in civil engineering
