Some of our projects include: aircraft hangars, food processing plants, warehousing and distribution centres, vehicle maintenance facilities, component manufacturing and assembly facilities, office buildings and other light industrial projects.

Your Opportunity We have a new opportunity for a Senior Industrial Facility Planner. This is an excellent opportunity for an Engineer or Architect who has an interest in business planning and implementation, developing client relationships, and designing light industrial facilities. Design work primarily involves functional planning, workflow and facility optimization, and facilities planning.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Multi-discipline design management of large, complex industrial facilities projects.

  • Functional planning of industrial facilities including needs assessment, master planning, facility optimization and workflow optimization.

  • Developing, tracking, updating, forecasting and modifying project schedules and budgets throughout all project phases.

  • Working with an integrated project delivery team which includes Industrial, Civil, Structural, Electrical, Mechanical and Process Engineers and Architects.

  • Business development and client relationship management.

  • Partnering with other Stantec business lines to explore opportunities and deliver projects.

  • Depending on the candidate, the role may include coaching and supervising industrial engineers, EITs, and co-op students.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Familiarity with integrated, collaborative industrial facility design processes.

  • Highly effective interpersonal communication skills and people management abilities.

  • Excellent ability to write clear and articulate reports.

  • Some project management and/or LEED® experience is an asset.

  • Note: Must be able to travel out of town for multiple days (as/when permitted in light of COVID-19 restrictions) and must have a valid driver’s license.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering or Architecture with at least ten (10) years of experience in industrial facility planning, design and/or design management, preferably using Lean/IE principles.

  • Registration or credentials to register as an Engineer or Architect in Canada and/or the US is required.

  • Experience designing vehicle maintenance facilities is ideal, but not necessarily required.

  • Experience in multiple project delivery methods including design/build, integrated project delivery, P3, etc. is an asset.

  • Experience in static modeling and/or discrete event simulation is an asset.
