Our services include architecture, interior design, planning and mechanical/electrical/structural engineering for a wide variety of markets. The Stantec Calgary 25th street office has an immediate need for a full-time Mechanical Engineer – EIT to become part of our dynamic team.

Your Key Responsibilities

As the successful candidate, your responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Work in a general capacity with technical knowledge of building science and building mechanical systems.

  • Prepare contract drawings, schematics, schedules, details, and sketches from conceptual design through to construction.

  • Work with a team to produce aspects of mechanical design and drawings in REVIT, as well as in AutoCAD.

  • Assist in the design of building related mechanical systems including HVAC, Plumbing and Fire Protection systems across Canada using applicable codes, standards, and reference materials.

  • Produce client proposals and building investigation reports.

  • Review shop drawings and other contractor submittals for compliance with construction documents.

  • Perform field surveys for drawing development, site reviews and as-built drawings.

  • Communicate with other team members and disciplines to complete projects

  • Complete assignments and projects in a timely manner as required by the Project Manager, Discipline Lead, or Supervisor.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word and Excel)

  • Design experience using AutoCAD 2014, or a more recent version, and Revit experience is a definite asset.

  • Effective communication skills are essential, including interpersonal and verbal abilities within a multi-discipline team environment.

  • Prior experience in the construction industry would be an asset. - Knowledge or familiarity with National and Alberta Building Codes, plumbing codes, fire codes, energy codes would be considered an asset.

  • Knowledge or familiarity with LEED standards, ASHRAE, ASPE and NFPA would be considered an asset.

  • Self-motivated and self-starter with a strong work ethic.

  • Eager to learn with strong listening, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

  • Must be well organized to be able to prioritize multiple tasks, work in a fast-paced environment and demonstrate a flexible approach to work assignments.

  • Interest/experience in the application of green engineering principles; LEED AP certification is a definite asset.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Registration or eligibility for registration as an Engineer in Training with APEGA.

Either new graduate or up to 3 years of co-op, summer, or post graduate consulting engineering experience.

Typical office environment working with computers at a desk for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
