We are currently seeking a Fracture Mechanics Program Engineer to join our Oil & Gas group in Southeast Calgary.

TheFracture Mechanics Program Engineershall have strong technical, organizational and people skills, with a focus on integration of fracture mechanics into the integrity assessments and integrity program development. At all times, the focus will be efficient, timely and high quality deliverables to the client through an attention to details.

The role will require selection and application of appropriate materials testing, Fitness-for-Service and engineering methods and principles to conduct detailed engineering assessment of material imperfections relating to steel and pipe manufacturing, construction and joining as well as environmental and mechanical effects. Project experience with low-frequency long seam ERW and fatigue will be an asset. The candidate shall have a strong work ethic, enjoy working in a team environment and will desire to have a career in the integrity management field.

Your Duties

  • Application of Pipeline Facility Fitness-for-Service codes and standards

  • Project management, responsible for overall project cost, schedule and deliverables

  • Sharing knowledge through informal presentations and one-on one coaching & mentoring

  • Set an example through responsible, safety-conscious conduct

  • Meet all requirements of Client and Stantec Quality Systems

  • Strengthen technical knowledge through on-the-job, informal and formal training

  • Be familiar with and ensure appropriate industry-accepted methods are utilized at all times

  • Be familiar with applicable codes and regulations

  • Liaise and interact with Stantec peers

  • Establish and maintain positive client relationships

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Graduate or Post-graduate Engineering Degree in Fracture Mechanics

  • Eligible for P.Eng. registration with APEGA

  • 3+ years of laboratory experience in tensile, Charpy V-notch, CTOD, metallurgical and fractography analysis

  • Crack Defect assessment experience, including application of CorLas, BS7910, API 579, API 1104, CSA Z662 Annex K

  • BMT Flawcheck and Quest Signal software

  • Experience with Canadian standards, practices and applicable legislation

  • Demonstrated technical proficiency

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, analytical and problem solving skills

  • Demonstrated process improvement skills

  • Demonstrated initiative, flexibility and adaptability
