Your Opportunity

Our Facility Assessment team focuses on the assessment, renewal, modernization and sustainability of existing buildings. Every year, we undertake the assessment, renewal and improvement of thousands of buildings throughout Canada and the United States. The Facility Assessment vision is to improve the built environment for the well-being of occupants.

Stantec's Calgary office has an opportunity for an Intermediate Architectural/Structural Assessor Technologist to work within our Facility Assessment team.

Your Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Team Leader your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Preparation of detailed technical reports.

  • Responsible for conducting evaluations for finance and pre-purchase property condition assessments and capital planning.

  • Estimate quantities of materials for the purposes of capital planning.

  • Investigate and evaluate building architectural and structural systems including the building envelope, structure and site elements.

  • Carry out field measurements.

  • The individual must be capable of working independently.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Have a clear understating of construction processes, building operations and architectural - engineering drawings and terminology.

  • Knowledge of the Building Codes, bylaws, and other applicable codes and standards is desirable.

  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

  • Proven report writing skills for architectural and structural building systems.

  • Candidates with experience in construction and/or facility maintenance and operations is desirable.

  • Exceptional MS Office skills.

  • A valid driver's license is required.

Education and Experience

  • Technical diploma in Architectural or Structural Engineering Technology.

  • Have at least 3-5 years’ experience in completing large/complex building condition assessment projects.

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
